To Train Them Up In The Lord

I so enjoy just spending time with my sweet babes. I spend so much time training them in the Lord. When I see the result of careful training it makes my heart so glad. Hannah walked into the kitchen today and asked, "Mommy, may I have a drink of water?" in her sweetest voice. When the girls quarrel now, I just look at them and tell them to make it right. They each will say, "Sister, I'm sorry for hitting you. Will you forgive me?" And then they give each other a hug and go off to play sweetly with each other. Little by little they work at becoming God's little girls.

Bekah goes to Cubbies each week and she just loves it. Every week she learns a new verse. We have all the verses posted on the wall of the dining room so we can review them a few times a week. Bekah remembers all the verses that she has learned. I'm looking forward to when Hannah starts to memorize her verses too.

We love singing songs with the girls. Hannah loves singing too, though she has a hard time with some of the words. I normally sing a phrase and have her sing after me. She does a great job when we do it this way.

Making Tarts

Today was a stay at home day with Mommy and the girls. It was rainy and cold out side. We enjoyed staying inside next to the fire place and playing together. We sat on pillows by the fire and read books, colored, cut and glued paper, played with legos and hopped on pillows spread out on the floor. Before lunch we decided to make tarts. A cute blog I read, www.icanteachmychild.com, had a fun recipe for the tarts. We made home made dough and rolled it out. Bekah helped cut out all the circles for the tarts. Then Bekah filled the tarts with cherry pie filling while Hannah cleaned out the bowl. Hannah enjoyed cutting out the shapes for the top. Then she carefully put them on top. Both the girls loved eating the tarts with whipped cream on top.

Our Potty Training Fairy and Our Lyric Girl

I love this sweet picture of my little fairy. Hannah wanted to pick out her own dress and this is what she chose. She is doing such a good job of potty training. She is doing it all on her own with lots of words of encouragement from mommy, daddy and Bekah.

Hannah told me this morning, "I need a diaper. " Mommy said, "No Hannah, we are potty training." Hannah came back with, "I think I need underwear on my bummel. I do." This made me laugh.

This morning I stood outside Bekah's room and listened to her sing to her baby dolls. This is what I heard, "Give glory to God, our father. He loves me. He loves me. He comes into our hearts when we invite him. Our father in heaven. He is in heaven. Give glory to Him." I love that she praises God all by herself.

Then she began to sing sweetly, "I love you! I love you! I love you more than a mushroom does. I love you more than beef and stink bugs. I don't have a name for you yet. Lalalalalalala. Your name will be Elizabeth. I love you more than Hansel. . . and Gretal. I love you!"

Oh how I wish I had a video camera in her room. Bekah has no sense of melody or tune, but she does enjoy singing and entertaining. That is our girl.

Running in the Rain

Bekah had been cooped up in the house too long. She begged me to allow her to go play out in the rain.

I love how she is running through the rain. Every thing is slightly blurred and I think it makes the picture that much more interesting. Bekah was completely soaked after spending an hour outside running around.

Photo a Day -4

I found my little one sound asleep in her rocking chair today. She melted my heart with her pink cheeks and soft little fingers holding her dolly. I wanted to stay there watching her sleep for hours. There is just something about a sleeping child that makes you realize how precious children are.

Bekah ran out to the mail box to put a letter in it. She was jumping in every puddle and playing in the rain. Hannah climbed up on a chair to look out the window and watch her big sister. The rain was streaming down the window with a little bit of sun on her face. I just had time to grab the camera and get one shot.

Photo a Day - 3

I love the look on Brittany's face as you see it through the smoke. It just seemed interesting to me.

This photo isn't that stunning, but I really love the look on Bekah's face. She just enjoys cleaning the toilets so much and that joy shows on her face.

Photo a Day - 2

Tonight I made dinner for the girls. They helped me start the rice and set the table. I love having them help me around the house. They help with such joy and they try so hard.

Photo a Day - 1

I keep wanting to take a photo a day and post them. Today I decided to finally do it. Though I just couldn't pick my favorite so this is what you get.

The sunlight out side was just so irresistable. As dinner cooked I took the girls out front for a few pictures. They were so cute as the sunlight lit up their faces.

A day at the beach!

I spent the day at the beach with my daughters and my dear friend Kelly. We had a great time enjoying the waves, the sunshine and the sand at Duncan's Landing. After a picnic of sandwiches, snack mix and peanut butter and celery sticks we went exploring. Bekah found a trickle of water coming out of the rocks and thought that was just great. Bekah asked me if we could go home every 10 minutes. Of course I said, "NO, go play and enjoy the beach!!" Then we drove down the road to Salmon Beach (I think that is where we went). We pulled up and Bekah said, "This is the same beach we were just at!" It took me a bit to convince her that even though this beach did have sand, water and waves like the other one, it was in fact a different beach. Then she wanted to go to yet another beach. We decided instead to go to Scream'n Mimi's. They have super yummy homemade ice cream. Of course, as we were finishing up the ice cream, Bekah said she had to go potty-NOW! We had to run down the block, across the plaza and though Whole Foods Store. Hannah started shouting at the top of her lungs, "We need to go potty!" We did finally make it with out an accident. Yeah!

I enjoy spending time with my little girls and doing new things with them. Each day I see life through their eyes. The other day I saw such a sweet and kind side of Bekah. It made my heart melt. Awhile ago, when we were having really cold weather, I had noticed that Shonna's car had a thick layer of ice on the windows. I talked to the girls about doing kind things for others and I had gone out to scrap the ice off of her windows. Well, on monday, Bekah, Hannah and I had come down stairs and were eating breakfast. Bekah saw that Auntie Shonna's windows had ice on them. She asked me if I was going to go out and scrap her windshield. I'll admit, I really didn't want to go out in the cold. I wanted to stay in my nice warm house and drink my hot cocoa. But the look in my daughter's eyes convinced me that I had better go out and check the car. The ice was really thin and it would only take Shonna a minute to clean it off. I came in an explained that to Bekah. She gave me a shocked look and asked me, "Aren't you going to go clean off her car?" Still trying to get out of going back outside, I asked her if she was sure I really needed to. She assured me that I needed to do it right now. So I did! Shonna caught me in the act and we smiled over Bekah's kind heart. Bekah is looking out at the world and seeing things that she can do to make things better. She makes me a better mom and a better person every day.

Hannah, my baby girl, just makes me smile. Every day her funny grin lights up my heart and makes me laugh. Every day during her nap, Hannah has been getting into everything in her room. Today, I went to check on her. She was standing in the middle of her room, diapers covering the floor (many of them she had obviously tried on). She had her jammie pants around her ankles, no diaper on, a shirt and her dress coat with fur on the sleeves over that. She was just standing there with this huge grin on her face. I couldn't help but giggle while I helped her get dressed and tuck her into bed.

Oh how I love my sweet girls!

My Sweet Little Girls

Being a mommy is one of the most wonderful things in this whole world. Ever since I was a little girl, all I ever wanted to be was a mom. When I was just a little girl, barely able to walk, I didn't have a baby doll. I actually got a catsup bottle, wrapped it in a towel and walked around the house burping it. I took care of all my dolls as if they were my children. I never really dreamed about a wedding or being married, just about being a mommy.

The best days of my life were the ones on which I found out I was expecting and the days that I met my new little girls. Bekah and Hannah bring such joy to me. They make me smile all through out the day. Hannah loves to run to me and give me tons of kisses (with her little tongue out). Bekah looks at me every day and says that she loves me from her heart. I love the time that I get to spend with them snuggling, reading and just talking with them. I love taking pictures of my little ones. Oh, to be able to hold onto these memories forever.
